I arrived home on Friday from work to a package sent from my friend M in Ireland. We met in Delhi and while I returned home in January 2012 her assignment lasted until Summer 2012 before she headed back home. In the package were an Ireland key chain, two ornate rings and a card that read:
"...I saw these rings and haggled hard in your honour before I left Delhi...it even involved walking away..would love to meet up for a chai and some [market] browsing - or hang out on your balcony!..."
I say it often, but I miss the friends I made in Delhi and the timeswe had. Receiving a thoughtful gift like this (she knows of my love for ornate rings and picturing her haggling is really funny) is a reminder that the those 10 months, as far away as they sometimes seem, really did happen. And just over a year ago. Thank you so much M for the thoughtful gift - I LOVE them!
It's Family Day here in Canada which means in Ontario, where I live, it's a stat holiday. All that to say I have the day off work. I'm babysitting my niece for the first half of the day and she makes me laugh non-stop. When she saw the rings her eyes lit up - "woooooow it's soo nice," she said in awe. It's the little things for me and for her too apparently.
Have a great day where ever you are!
