Despite being on a fairly tight budget for the next few weeks as I pay off my final outstanding debt (woo-hoo!) and prepare to move out this Spring (woo-hooooo!), I picked up a few things this week for the new place that I've yet to find. The above I got at my favourite thrift store. The marble...container is nice and substantial and has beautiful veining; it'll look great on the kitchen counter holding large kitchen utensils...or maybe I'll use it as an impromptu vase? It looks like this one from Crate & Barrel except it only cost me $5! Then there's the ginormous king size Indian blanket/throw. It'll be perfect in the spare bedroom (assuming I have a spare bedroom), or maybe I'll cut it down a bit so it's a bit smaller and use the excess fabric to reupholster a bench or make an accent pillow or two. I'm not a huge fan of red but it's the perfect shade and is covered in tiny decorative mirrors...it reminds me of the vintage Rajasthani bag I brought back from India. It'll definitely add that traveled, ethnic feel that I want to whatever room it's in. And then I picked up two of the carts I blogged about here at the big blue earlier this week when they were on a ridiculous sale - regularly $69 each down to $19 each for the day! So it's been a pretty successful shopping week.
Once I'm finally in my own space, I'm really hoping to share the decorating process with you all. I don't have a huge budget to decorate or hundreds to spend on a single piece - but I've got vision, patience, and don't mind a bit of DIY. And those three things - well, they go a long way. At least I hope they do!
Anywho, on to some links for your weekend enjoyment!
+ Perhaps one of the most beautiful brides and weddings I've ever seen. I'm a huge fan of simplicity.
+ The power of white paint. (Okay, having a great sense of style helps too!)
+ The funniest post you'll read about changing a light fixture.
+ Did you know that you could clean scratched up enamel pieces so they're practically like new? I didn't. For someone like me who loves enamel and thrifting - this is a very big discovery.
