Plants in vintage tea tins.

This picture, of a simple fern planted in a vintage tea tin, has inspired me to do something similar. Perhaps with herbs instead...to add some green to my kitchen-to-be.

I've said it before that, depending on the piece, I don't mind imperfections...and in this case a ton of rust. Maybe it's just me, but if the tin were shiny and new and perfect I don't know if I'd like it quite as much as I do. Sometimes it's the simplest, little things that can add some interest to a room. An old, imperfect, tea tin...or tins. I guess I have one more thing to look for when I'm out thrifting.

A few random thoughts and links to some things I enjoyed this week:

+ I absolutely love this duet (AND it's live). I've loved Pink since her very first single ("There You Go") - she has such an incredible voice. And I find Nate's voice to be so unique. A total match made in heaven this duet. And the hug at the end - gaaaah! Love it.

+These photographs of abandoned suitcases left at an old mental health hospital - so eerie and fascinating. I wonder what kinds of lives these people lead, the family and friends they left behind, the life they went on to lead. So sad. This link goes deeper into the lives and circumstances of 9 of the patients.

+ I've been reading a few blogs lately (like this one) that talk about pairing down and curating...and while I love stuff the concept of having only what's essential and loved and useful is quite appealing...

Happy Friday!
