I discovered these…hair hook elastic things via a vlogger during the summer of 2012. In her video, she went on about how awesome they were for thick hair and I thought "sure, I'll give them a try." So the next time I was at the beauty supply store I picked a pack up not really knowing what to expect.
They. Are. The. Best. Things. Ever. I promise you. You simply gather your hair as you normally would to put it into a ponytail, hook one end in your hair, then wrap it around until you get it to the tightness you want. Then hook the other end in to secure it. Seriously. Best. Thing. Ever. Unlike traditional hair elastics you can get exactly the "tightness" you want, it doesn't pull your hair out, and it doesn't lose it's elasticity; it's always stretchy.
Now here's where this story takes a sad turn. I bought that one pack that had 5-6 "hair hooks" and promised myself I would not lose them because they were so perfect. And I didn't. For an entire year I kept all of them. Then I slowly started to misplace them. And when, in the summer of 2013, I was down to just one I went back to the beauty supply store and - poof - they were no longer. Every time I pass a beauty supply store I stop in to check but so far, no luck. I even check beauty supply stores in the US when I'm there but nothing. So for the past year and a half I've been guarding my final hair hook like it's gold.
Luckily, I found another one in a hand bag I don't use regularly so now I have two. Two hair hook elastic things.
I have no idea what I'll do if I lose them.
