It's been a little bit quiet around here, huh? Ugh, my bad. Lots going on. Nothing big per say. Just...life happening. A little random catch up post then? Note I said random so don't expect any kind of cohesiveness.
▲ I've really been focusing on making my little apartment feel like home...which means spending time there, having friends and family over, and getting into a routine. Can I tell you, at the end of the work day I truly look forward to coming home to my little apartment. It's still a long way to go in terms of decorating but it's 100% a reflection of me and I just love the feeling of being in the space. In the beginning Howard would sometimes not want to go up the stairs but now he goes up them no problem and goes right to our door. A sign that it's starting to feel like home to him too? Also, I've met nearly all of my neighbours and so far so good :)
▲ Spending more time at my apartment means I've been trying to get Howard into a new routine as well (because we now go by mom's house less often). It's been tough. He's not used to spending entire work days home alone and has had to a few times and when I get home he is not happy. So I've been looking for a dog sitter or walker for him and finally found a dog daycare last week that I think is going to work perfectly. This is like a huge burden lifted off my shoulders because I felt super guilty the few times I had to leave him home alone while I was at work. Also, part of getting Howard into a new routine involves waking up early so I can give him a nice long walk before I go to work and taking him out to the dog park in the evening once I'm home. So once I finally do get in and settled and eat it's late in the evening - another reason my blogging has been a bit sporadic.
▲ My Breaking Bad finale dinner party was so much fun....despite my predictions being so wrong! How brilliant was that final episode? It's taken me a while to digest but as they days went by and I talked about it with other fans and had a chance to really appreciate all that was done in the episode (from the writing to the acting to the directing) I've come to the conclusion that it was basically the perfect final episode.
▲ I don't want to say too much about this next thing...because I feel like I've mentioned it a few times and never really followed through..but I am seriously working on a project that I've had in my mind for months now. I even have a date set for it to launch in 2014. I'm so so excited and can't wait to share more with you.
▲ I've been cooking more and I really enjoy it. I'm not a wine drinker but a few times with my meal I've thought "this would probably be even better with a nice glass of wine" - but I know nothing about wine! What are some of your favourite affordable wines?
▲ The commercial for that new TLC show about women from Alaska looking for love and going to Miami or something....I get SO irritated when the commercial starts and they say "Dating in Alaska is not like dating anywhere else in the world..." It's like, really? Dating in Alaska is not like dating anywhere else in the world?? Really?!? I bet it's a heck of a lot harder to date in let's say....Iran or Afghanistan or heck parts of India. Seriously. Ugh. I don't know why I let it bother me so much.
▲ Have I told you all that my sister is expecting again? Yup! I'm gonna be an aunt again...and besides the doctor (and a random lady at the library...long story) I'm the only one who knows the sex of the baby. Very fun! This also means that I'm in the process of planning a baby shower....
▲ Seriously need to do some Fall shopping. I LOVE this season (because I love layering and boots and scarves and the beautiful colours of the leaves changing...) but my wardrobe is sorely lacking. I blame this on the fact that I have to wear a company shirt, jeans, and black shoes for work. Ugh. I abhor having to wear a uniform.
▲ I'm trying to become an early riser...which is tough! But when you get up early you get so much done before, like, noon. Heck, before 10am. Do any of you get up early? Like, before 8am? What's the secret???
▲ Seeing as I'm trying to wake up early and take Howard for long morning walks, I'm looking for some good podcasts to listen to while we're out - any suggestions?Or do any of you listen/watch Ted Talks and have some favourites that are particularly inspiring? Please share!
Alright. How's that for random? What have you been up to lately?
